Maze Quest: The Labyrinth of Alberta is an interactive educational game where players navigate through a series of mazes while learning about sustainability. In each level, players must explore the maze to find a hidden treasure chest that unlocks a sustainability-related question. Answering the question correctly helps improve the city’s environmental, social, and economic conditions, making it a more sustainable future.

Players earn scores based on performance – answering correctly on the first attempt gives the highest points, while second and third attempts yield lower scores. Additionally, the longer it takes to find the treasure chest, the more the score decreases, encouraging both quick thinking and efficient exploration of the maze.

Throughout the maze, the players must also be very cautious of multiple pitfalls. Falling into one force the player to restart the maze, adding an extra layer of challenge and requiring careful navigation.

Players can also collect helpful items along the way. Finding a scroll reveals a clue on the screen that hints at the correct answer to the sustainability question, giving players a strategic advantage. Other items include a telescope, which reveals the entire maze layout, and a teleport, allowing players to instantly move to any location of their choice, and a speed boost, which increases the movement speed to help the players navigate the maze more quickly. These features add strategy and excitement while reinforcing sustainability learning in an engaging, game-based environment.

👤 1. Choose Your Mode

• Play as Guest → Start instantly (progress will not be saved)
• Sign Up / Log In → Save your scores and track your progress

🧭 2. Your Mission

• Navigate through the maze
• Find the hidden Treasure Chest
• Answer sustainability questions to improve your city

⚠️ 3. Watch Out!

• Avoid Pitfalls → Falling into one will restart the maze

🎒 4. Collect Power-Ups

• 📜 Scroll → Reveals a clue for the correct answer
• 🔭 Telescope → Shows the entire maze
• 🌀 Teleport → Jump to any selected location
• ⚡ Speed Boost → Move faster temporarily
